So, I checked the BB in Ebana, only 1 mission for the Syndicate, a fast courier job for less than 2000Cr. I took it anyway, and luckily was able to get a 200K smuggling mission on the way back.
But now nothing for the Syndicate at all.

I haven't seen a lot of Syndicate missions lately either. When that happens I content myself with trading, since exports apparently boost your faction rep too.
Our Syndicate pals also suggest working for Transport PLC and General in Nandhs and Silver Legal in Pitjang. Friendly factions, I guess. Might be a good source of credits while still allowing you to feel like you're supporting the wider cause...

Ok, good to know. In the meantime I've hopped back to Kaushpoos to do the "Protect the Miners" CG for a bit. Only got 2 easy bounties so far but already in the top 70%
Looks like they desperately need miners though, progress on that one isn't very advanced compared to the protection one.

Hi guys I have submitted a bug report for the missions, we had tons of them until they pushed out the latest update to stop the lon range smuggling missions. Since then the amount and value of Syndicate missions varies wildly. Try going out to main menu and going back in to the game under solo if you were in open originally. Then check the board and pick up any nee missions that have popped up before going to main menu and back into open again. This usually works as it resets the instance and produces new missions. Not all the time, but most of the time. Have fun guys

Welcome Tupelo. You do not have to head towards Ebana unless you want to and until you are ready. It is almost 200ly away from the starting area so in the Sidewinder it could be a bit tricky. How is the game going for you so far? If you have any questions let us know and we will be more than happy to help.

Ok. I have made it to Ebana - just as my internet crashed (I had just asked to Land at Callie Hub). Oh well - will try again.
So what should I do now that I am here?

Hey Tupelo. To start with, check out the Bulletin Board and take on any missions from The Syndicate that appeal to you. That's the PC player group (and in-game faction) that Apollo Flight is allied with. It'll get you some credits, boost your reputation with the Syndicate, and strengthen the Syndicate's hold on Ebana.
If you want to try mining, Callie Hub is quite close to a planet with a good ring system.
If you want to hunt baddies, you can go to those same rings and look for pirates. Shoot em down and collect the bounties.
And (my wife is asking me to help with dinner)...look for some of us in and around the system. Maybe you can wing up with us.
And there's always trading. Visit EDDB.io, plug in some info and see what routes turn up.
Cheers

Ok. Probably done for the night...have hockey. Did a couple is missions for syndicate anyway. By the way.....how do combat zones work....and should I go there with my adder?

Combat Zones
Drop in to them from SC as normal Pick a side very important to get the combat bonds (on right hand panel, in function tab the top option says faction, when not in a comabat zone it says none, when you enter on it will change to [Choose}, select it and pick a side. Then kill everything that is not on your side, the enemy normally goes red, if not select and scan a ship to find out who it belongs to.
Adder should be ok for low intensitiy CZ but try not to take on things that are bigger than you unless they are being attacked by lots of your friends in the Z
Fly safe

The Low Intensity CZ in Atrebo was mostly Cobras, Vultures and Vipers, with the odd Asp and 1 Python & 1 Anaconda. Pretty dodgy in an Adder I reckon, especially if you've not done much Combat.
A good way to get combat practice is to head to the NAV Beacon in a system - you'll find a mixture of clean and wanted ships, and you can basically take your pick. There are no sides (unless you attack someone in a wing), so you don't have to be watching over your shoulder for that Anaconda...

An adder build like this is about the best you can do, but be prepared to bug out if your new to them Basic adder Buildbut a viper might be better for combat, as a adder is more the first armed trader it what i used after the sidey untill i got the cobra

I would agree with Mistere. You may want to avoid CZs in an adder since they are not really built for combat. Once you work your way up to a cobra or a viper then you can think about getting into some combat. I would just worry about doing the BB missions, and if you want combat just take the missions where you have to kill pirates. I would also stay away from any assassination missions since you will need to equip a FSD interdictor and that is a whole other barrel of monkeys that you do not want to get into just yet.

The "Kill Pirates" missions are great for combat practise - and you can stack them to get more money.
For example - at the weekend I took 3 missions, one was to kill 2 pirates, one was to kill 4 pirates, and one was to kill 6 pirates, all in the same system. Now, you may think that means I needed to kill 12 pirates - BUT NO - each pirate kill counts against all 3 missions, so I just had to kill 6 to get the money for killing 2 and 4 and 6.
And finding non-specific pirates is easy - just hang around the NAV Beacon in the specified system. Not every "Wanted" or "Lawless" ship is a pirate though - you'll see pirates flagged with "Mission Target" when you scan them. Killing ordinary Wanted/Lawless ships will earn you some bounty, but won't count for the missions.

Ok...I have just under 1 millionk. Is that enough to buy a viper and outfit for the cz zones? Not seeing a lot of syndicate missions. Trying to get my rep up. But if I should wait that is ok to.

You can do it. I took a crack at a Viper build for under a million. The insurance rebuy cost is pretty cheap: 40-50K. coriolis.io/outfit/viper/13B3C3C2D3B3D2C2727181806005a422725.AwRj4yyA.Aw1+kA==?bn=ViperGives you a bit of extra armour and a shield boost. You can use the chaff launcher to throw off lasers and the shield booster to ... well, boost your shields when they start to go down. And then as you make a bit of cash you can upgrade with a better power plant, shield generator, etc. Military grade armour would be high on my list when you can afford it. A maxed out Viper comes to just a little over 2 million, if I'm not mistaken. As for weapons, two pulse lasers and two bigger multi cannons always worked well for my Viper. Pair the lasers to one trigger, the MCs to the other. Use the lasers to take down the shields and the cannons will chew up the hull. Vipers are good for smaller prey. Once a Python or Anaconda shows up, you may want to skedaddle. EDIT: Here's a more or less maxed out version for comparison. The added cost is mostly because of military grade hull and A-rated components. coriolis.io/outfit/viper/23A3A3A2D3A3D2C2727181804005a402725.AwRj4yyA.AwhMIyqA?bn=ViperM
